A snowy run

Our Approach

We welcome everyone, whether this is your first run or your millionth. We don't leave anyone behind!

Our Story

We're called the Red Rock Runners, named after the red shale paths in the town of Cochrane, AB. The club was formed in 2001 as a social running group.

Meet the Exec

Here's the group of volunteers who keep the club running.
The exec meets approx 4 times each year and works to make the club thrive. Want to change something or be more involved? Tell us!

Dylan Wilkins

Hi my name is Dylan Wilkins for those of you who don't know me , you know who you are, and for those of you who do know me, you also know who you are. I am the current CRRRTC president and I have been a member of the club since 2013.  I have enjoyed  being a run lead for many of the run to footstock clinics. I have run 5K, 10K and half marathon races. I also enjoyed cycling  from Jasper to Lake Louise with a few other club members, they know who they are.  This past year I have been sidelined with an Achilles injury however I am on the mend. I look forward to meeting many more of you at runs and coffee,  so I can know who you are 🙂

Evan Londry

Hello, my name is Evan Londry and I currently look after the club Administration duties. I have been a member of the Red Rocker Runners for nearly 10 years now after moving the Alberta for work but really took the opportunity to get closer to the mountains. Over the last 6 years I have really taken to Ironman Triathlon and Ultra Marathons but I have always been drawn to running not only for the fitness benefits but also the amazing people you meet while chasing life’s goals.

Kat Kent

Kat Kent

Hi! I look after the website for the running club, so if you have ideas on how to make it better, please let me know. I have had a break from running since before my son was born, but will be back out again in the next few months. For me running is a great way to meet new friends :).

Jen Nicol Sylvestre

Vice President

My name is Jennifer Nicol Sylvestre. I am the current CRRRTC vice president and I have been a member of the club since 2016.  I came to be a part of this crew through my participation in the Run to Footstock clinic in 2016. I was a run lead for the clinic this year and loved every minute of it. I have run a variety of 5K and 10K races, most involving glow-in-the dark paint or post race beverages. I was able to develop a passion for running through the club and have also had the opportunity to make some really good friends. I look forward to meeting many more great people at runs, coffee or other club sponsored activities.

Gillian Serriff

Hi Red Rock Runners.  My name is Gillian Sherriff and I am the club Sponsorship/Advertising Coordinator.  I joined the club not only to run but to meet new people, after moving to Cochrane from Cold Lake in 2016.  It was a good move and I have met great people because of it.  As for running, I started out myself about 10 years ago but didn’t really stick to it until I joined my first running club the Dundee Road Runners to help me train for the Edinburgh Marathon in Scotland.  Since moving to Canada I have mostly raced in Half Marathons and 10k’s, my favourite race to date being the Kelowna Wine Country Half (not least because of the free wine tasting after).  It also has the best medals of any race I have run.  So to this year, my running has now taken a back seat as some of you may know I’m due my first baby in December.  I was extremely happy to be able to run the 5k MEC race 6 at just about 7 months pregnant, but I have definitely put my runners away for a little while now.  I do hope to see you all out running in 2018.  My goal is to get back on track in the next footstock clinic.

Kari Rose

Kari Rose

Hello! I am Kari Rose, and I have recently taken over the Treasurer position at the club. I joined the running clinic in 2016 after an ACL surgery to build my confidence! I had so much fun and learned so much that I decided to volunteer as a run lead last year for the clinic. My heart is filled when I am able to witness others gain confidence and find empowerment within themselves while actually having FUN while running! I have a new passion in triathlons, so besides running on the Cochrane trails, you can find me cross training at the pool, on my bike or in the gym. Come join me on Saturday mornings for beginner runs where my motto is no one is left behind!

Ian Colvine

Hi, I am Ian Colvine, your current newsletter writer. I started running about 30 years ago and have run every distance from 1 mile to marathon. In 1997 I ran my last marathon and then took up Triathlon. In 2010 I did Ironman Canada where I ran my very last and slowest marathon after a long day of swimming and biking. I was running with a run club in Saskatoon hosted by Brainsport The Running Store. After more than 30 years working with provincial government I retired so I could work at Brainsport for fun. For eight years I wrote a weekly newsletter for the store that I called the Brainsport Times. After ten years  I retired for a second time and moved here to Cochrane to be closer to grandkids. I found the Red Rock Runners on line and joined up in 2015 after giving myself a couple of months to get acclimated to the altitude and hills. My first time I saw Cochrane was doing the Calgary Ironman 70.3 in 2009. We swam at Ghost Lake and biked Grand Valley and Horse Creek Road on the way back into Calgary. Had no idea at the time I’d be living out here in a few years.

I haven’t been running much lately so you might only see me on a Sunday morning run.
